Bleach or Caustic Soda is the commercial name for Sodium Hydroxide; thus, Caustic Soda at 50% is an aqueous solution containing between 48 and 50% of NaOH in weight, approximately.
Caustic Soda has countless applications, a few of which are: producing soap oils and detergents; regenerating ion exchange resins for water treatment; washing glass bottles; bleaching cellulose in the pulp and paper industry; producing refined sugar; dyeing cotton fabrics; producing agrochemicals; making grenetin and gelatin; in cleaning products in general, etc.
Caustic Soda is transported in auto tanks or liquid-bulk rail cars of carbon steel. Due to its high corrosiveness, Caustic Soda attacks leather, wool, rubber, phenol-formaldehyde resin, and various other substances such as: aluminum, magnesium, zinc, lead, copper, tin, and bronze, as well as galvanized surfaces.
